Tools We Use

Mr. Hennigar is requesting signed permission to use the following tools (Seesaw.me, Flipgrid.com, and Twitter.com) with your child this year. These tools have great potential for learning, but since student information is stored outside of Canada (in accordance with the Provincial Privacy of Student Information Policy), I am requesting your signed permission to use these tools with your child. If you aren't comfortable with any of the conditions listed on the sites below, I would love to discuss it further with you!

Seesaw

We will be using Seesaw as a tool for students to collect images and videos of their work, and to reflect on their own learning and progress throughout the year. The best part is, you'll be able to follow along from your phone or email! You will receive an individual code from Mr. Hennigar that one or two parents/guardians can use to get real-time images, recordings, and anything else students' are proud of! It is also a great tool for teachers to send reminder notes, since you can get notifications on your phone or email.

Here is a video to learn more:

Concerned about privacy? Read over the privacy agreement from Seesaw here, and we can talk about any questions you might have.

Seesaw complies with COPPA, which means it is safe for students under the age of 13 in the USA. It is an approved app for use within the HRCE.

Flip

Flip is a video recording site that allows the teacher to post a discussion prompt, and for students to have a conversation through short recorded vidoes. It is a great way for me as the teacher to hear from ALL my students to find out how they understand a topic. Many students don't like to participate in full-class discussions. Flip allows every student to have a voice in our classroom!

Concerned about privacy? Read over the privacy agreement from Flip (Microsoft) here, and we can talk about any questions you might have.

Some personal information about your child may be collected on the Flip server (information shared by the student), but this information will be protected as Flip describes in their Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Flip is an approved app in the HRCE.

Twitter

I use Twitter as a means of connecting with other educators. I am one of many HRCE teachers sharing resources, thoughts, and photos of learning activities with teachers and families on twitter.com/MrHennigar. Twitter is approved for use for teachers in Nova Scotia. Read more about Twitter's privacy policy here.
