Awards

At Millwood High School we value sportsmanship. For the individual awards athletes are nominated by and voted upon by the coaches of each individual sport whereas the major awards are determined by our school’s sports awards committee. The athletes chosen for awards, should possess a tremendous team-first attitude. Playing time is not always a major factor and often award winners are the players coaches love to have on their team not only for their skill but because they come to practice every day with spirit, enthusiasm, a great work ethic, and a positive attitude.

For all major awards it is recommended, not required, that the athletes be involved in multiple sports. In addition to team contributions, the athletes should be good citizens, showing dependability, responsibility and leadership in all school environments. We are very proud of all of our athletes regardless of award status.

SSNS Awards -

This is an opportunity to acknowledge those in your school who exemplify the qualities we strive to develop through participation in school sport:

·       demonstration of commitment to Fair Play;

·       respect for opponents and officials;

·       support of team and coach(es);

·       understanding that winning is not everything;

·       graciousness in both victory and defeat.

It is understood that these are our “best” students and need not be MVP’s or Athlete of the Year but clearly illustrate all that is good about school sport.
