Provincial assessments are underway and the English component has already been written. The Math provincial assessment will take place this week. This year marks a transition from traditional paper copies of the assessments to a new online digital assessment for Gr. 8 students in Nova Scotia. A couple of quick reminders:
Please ensure that your child(ren) brings their Chromebook to school on the day of their online assessments as they will use it to write the assessment.
Please ensure that your child(ren) charges their Chromebook the night before to ensure their battery is fully charged for these assessments.
Dates:
English Provincial Assessments: May 20 and 21 (Wednesday and Thursday) COMPLETED
Math Provincial Assessments: June 3 and 4 (Wednesday and Thursday)
There is a Peak Velocity Baseball Program on June 6th from 12:00pm to 2:00pm in Sydney at 274 Wash Plant Access Rd at Peak Velocity. There are limited spaces so people should register ASAP.
As we move toward the end of the school year, students and families are asked to make note of the following dates in June:
Thursday, June 18th - Gr. 8 Party
Tuesday, June 23rd - Honours Night
Wednesday, June 24th - Activity Awards
Lost and Found
Please encourage your child(ren) to check the school lost and found for any items they may have misplaced throughout the year (e.g. sweatshirts, jackets, water bottles, etc.)
Students and families are reminded that students are only permitted to drink water throughout the instructional day in their classes. No other drinks (e.g. sports drinks, juices, energy drinks, coffee/tea shop drinks, etc.) are permitted in classrooms.
Students are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to school as we have several bottle filling stations located throughout the school for students and staff.
As the spring weather can be unpredictable, students and families are reminded that students should be dressed and prepared for the weather each day as students are expected to be outside in the morning, at lunch and after school (unless they are inside due to inclement weather). Students can store any additional items they need in their assigned locker in case they require it.
