Math 10 @ Work is designed to prepare students for careers in most trades or direct entry into the workforce. Throughout the course, we will be covering the metric and imperial measurement systems, the measurement of 2D and 3D objects, geometry, data handling, trigonometry and the basics of income and deductions.
Please make sure you have:
A binder for handouts
Lined and graph paper
Pencils and erasers
Scientific calculator
Assessment
1. Continuous Evaluation 80%
a. Cumulative Tests (at the end of each unit) – 50%
b. Quizzes (twice throughout each unit) – 20%
c. Assignments (weekly) – 10%
2. Exam 20%
Academic integrity is expected of all students. Any cheating on tests or quizzes will result in a mark of zero and possibly referral to administration for further action.
It is the student’s responsibility to arrange makeups for tests and quizzes. Usually it will be completed on the first day after the student returns to school.
Retests are done once a month at lunch.
Expectations
Extra help is always available before school or at lunch. Don’t hesitate to ask!
Cell phones should not be used during class time, especially during tests.
Students must arrive to class on time prepared to work.
It is the student’s responsibility to get any missed work.
No food or beverages (other than water).
