Building Skills for the Workplace and Planning a Career
Options and Opportunities, referred to as O2, is a program designed to help students work toward a career or occupation in contexts that respond to their learning needs. Students develop connections to the workplace, postsecondary institutions and training programs that assist with transitioning to new environments beyond high school. O2 is a unique combination of high school and hands on learning in the classroom and in the workplace.
Who are O2 Students?
O2 is for anyone!

O2 Based Courses
Students in O2 must complete specific courses to earn an O2 certificate which provides them with assured seating status at the Nova Scotia Community College. Students entering the O2 Program in Grade 10 (September 2021) must complete the following courses along with courses required for a graduation diploma:
Career Development 10 - taken in grade 10
Community Based Learning 11 - taken in grade 10
3 Cooperative Education courses - taken in grades 11 & 12
Cohort Classes
The purpose of cohort classes is to provide the students with smaller classes, opportunities for community-based learning and to help build a supportive environment for students. Students are required to take at least 3 co-operative education courses over their grade 11 and 12 years. They should be provided with the opportunity to take other O2 cohort classes by the school during their final two years as well.
Once selected, students are cohorted in at least three classes in grade 10. These include:
NSCC Connection
O2 does not limit you to NSCC but does guarantee a designated seat in a program of choice. This is a HUGE bonus as many of NSCC courses are wait listed.
