Nova Scotia Junior Wind Ensemble   Grades 7 - 9

Dedicated to encouraging young musicians, fostering a greater love for music and inspiring further musical endeavors. We rehearse two weekends each year, one in November and one in March. These rehearsals include Friday evening, Saturday all day and Sunday until after the concert which typically ends early afternoon. Applications are typically due in May the year before participating.

Nova Scotia Honour Jazz   Grades 7 - 12

Established in 1995, Nova Scotia Honour Jazz provides students the opportunity to study and perform in ensembles with top jazz performers in the region. They meet for three intensive weekend session each year throughout central Nova Scotia, where students play in groups and receive master classes on their particular instruments.

It is not necessary to know any jazz, all students are placed in groups based on their ability and their interests. Groups, organized by playing level (Junior, Intermediate and Senior) include combos and big bands. Vocalists have the opportunity to sing in the Vocal Ensemble and with one of the bands.
