What happens to your @gnspes.ca account when you leave?
Below you will find information on your @gnspes.ca account. Read through the "what you should know" section and then, when you are ready to back up your account. See the instructions under "backing up your account."
Good luck on the next part of your journey!
Your @gnspes email account will remain active for 12 months after you leave.
Once you become inactive in PowerSchool, you will receive an email to your @gnspes account. The email will let you know that your account will be deleted in one year. It will also include instructions on how to download or move your account content.
Shortly before your account is deleted you'll be reminded that it will be deleted.
Once your account is no longer active, any website where you had used the "Sign In with Google" feature with your @gnspes.ca will no longer allow you to log in and see your work.
Backing up your @gnspes account will not prevent this. If you have things in these third party sites you don't want to lose, it is recommended that you log into them and share or download any work to a personal account prior to losing access to your @gnspes account.
Make sure you perform the back up on a trusted device and a trusted network. Avoid public Wi-Fi and public computers if possible. This is for the sake of your own personal data security.
Head to Takeout by Google to begin the process of exporting your data. For more instructions, see the video below or the walkthrough here.
Make sure you are logged in with your @gnspes.ca account as that is the account it needs to pull data from.
When doing this, you will have the choice of merging it with an existing personal account or downloading it to import to another account later.
Things to keep in mind:
You have a large amount of storage on @gnspes.ca and your personal account may require you to pay for additional storage when transferring everything out.
If you are downloading the data to your computer, it will likely require a large amount of disk space depending on how much was stored in your Google Drive.
If you are still receiving emails at your @gnspes.ca email address, consider setting up an auto reply to point people to your personal account until such a time as your @gnspes.ca email is de-activated. Better yet, use the year before your account is deleted to let all your contacts know about your new contact information.
