What happens to your @gnspes.ca account after you move on from your position in a Nova Scotia public school?
Below you will find information on your @gnspes.ca account. Read through the "what you should know" section and then, when you are ready to back up your account. See the instructions under "backing up your account."
Good luck on the next part of your journey!
At some point after you leave the NS Public Education System, your GNSPES account will become inactive/unavailable.
Prior to leaving, you should consult with the IT department at your Region/CSAP to learn about your options.
When you move from school to school, or if you leave the Public Education system, you should not take any Personally Identifying Information (PII) related to any student or others. You should consult with your administration to identify more precisely what information and data you can take with you (including what you can download from your GNSPES account, and local drives and networks).
When your GNSPES account is deleted, the contents will no longer be available. Please ensure you get what you need before departing.
Once your account is no longer active, any website where you had used the "Sign In with Google" feature with your @gnspes.ca will no longer allow you to log in and see your work.
Backing up your @gnspes account will not prevent this. If you have things in these third party sites you don't want to lose, it is recommended that you log into them and share or download any work to a personal account prior to losing access to your @gnspes account.
You will need to organize the digital information on your Drive, in other Google tools, and in other digital locations like school and region drives and networks prior to departing. This is to ensure you do not backup or download any information containing the PII (Personal Identifying Information) of others.
This includes but is not limited to any data with student names or identifying information such as grade spreadsheets, attendance tracking sheets, student assignments, class trip lists and information, etc...
This process will take some time but it is a necessary step in identifying what you should and should not take with you when you leave.
Once you've consulted with your administration and you feel that you've sufficiently sorted your data to eliminate PII, please reach out to your local IT support team for assistance and information on how you can most effectively download the remaining data.
