In Discovering Opportunities classrooms, individual learners and groups of learners may be working on different content, learning in different ways at different times and at different rates.
Where possible, courses are integrated; for example, English Language Arts with Social Studies, Mathematics with Science, or Physical Education with Healthy Living.
Students, both individually and in groups, are frequently involved in inquiry-based integrated projects, often with linkages to the community.
While integrated, learning experiences may involve activities from two, or even three courses; students are expected to achieve the outcomes prescribed for each course.
Classroom physical activity breaks are integrated into learning activities to increase students’ physical activity, to extend the range of learning strategies available to the teacher, and to increase, or prevent declines in, the time students spend on task.
