D.O. Application Process

Students will complete an application for the Discovering Opportunities class. Once applications are received, interviews will be scheduled so students can meet with D.O. teachers to discuss their interest in the program and to consider the extent to which the student is likely to benefit from the program. The process will begin in the Spring, with selections made well before the end of the school year. 

Upon Acceptance into the Discovering Opportunities Class:

The initial step in engagement is for DO students to understand that they have been selected for an opportunity that will lead them to success in school. Students and guardians will be expected to sign and commit to a Learning Agreement, demonstrating their commitment to the class and all it entails. Students need to know that this is a program that will provide them with academic success, an understanding of their gifts and strengths, and the opportunity to enter their future better prepared to succeed in their courses and fully participate in school life. 

Students need to understand that they are entering into an agreement with the school; that they must commit to their studies, and that the school will do everything possible to help them succeed. 

Discovering Opportunities Administration Process 

• Student and parents/guardians complete the application. APPLICATION DUE DATE: May 30, 2025

• Student and parents/guardians may attend all interview and planning sessions. (where applicable)

• Letter of Acceptance and Learning Agreement are sent to families and Learning Agreement is returned to school. 

• Student and parents/guardians attend all necessary meetings during the school year. (where applicable)
