The Loran Scholar's Foundation is an award valued at approximately $100,000 over 4 years of undergraduate study. The Loran Award looks beyond the transcript to find the promise of character: integrity, courage, compassion, determination and a high level of personal autonomy using one of the country’s most intensive and personalized scholarship selection processes.

This national scholarship’s key criterion is outstanding community leadership.

The Livie Properties: Women in Trades Scholarship
A $1,500 award will be given to two female-identifying students, who graduated from high school and are enrolled full or part-time in any trade specific area of study offered at any of Nova Scotia’s NSCC Campuses. Students Must Demonstrate: Graduation from high school, enrolment in trades related program at any NSCC campuses.

JANUARY
Students must be applying for a Post Secondary Science, Technology, Engineering or Math program at one of the 20 participating Canadian Universities. To be eligible for the scholarship, nominees must be entrepreneurial-minded and meet two out of the three criteria; outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership; academic excellence; and/or financial need. Scholarship winners are given up to $120,000.00. Only one nominee can be submitted from the school.
How to apply: Submit a current resume and letter of intent to Mrs. Lohnes-Cashin by Monday, Dec. 8th outlining the reasons you believe you fit the criteria to be the School Nominee.

This organization helps thousands of Indigenous students across Canada complete their education. Applicants must be First Nation, Inuit or Metis students living in Canada.

KIN Canada Bursary
If you are planning to attend a recognized college or university, you may qualify for a $1,000 Kin Canada Bursary. Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident; plan to register as a full-time student in the 2026-2027 school year at a recognized post-secondary institution (e.g. University, College, Trade School, Technical Institute); submit this application to one only of a local Kinsmen, Kinette, or Kin Club nearest your permanent residence. (Email and mailing addresses of Clubs can be found at www.kincanada.ca ); demonstrate high ideals, community involvement and knowledge of Kin, and not have previously received a bursary from the Hal Rogers Endowment Fund.

Future Health Research & Innovation Scholarship
These annual scholarships are open to grade 12 students who plan on continuing their education at a Maritime post-secondary institution in a field that will enhance health research or innovation.

QEII Foundation Diversity in Health Care Bursaries - $1,500
Community involvement, financial need, educational goals and field of study in health care and be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident, with a permanent mailing address in Nova Scotia. Must identify as
African Nova Scotian/Black, Indigenous, Racialized, Immigrant, 2SLGBTQIA+ or experiencing physical, cognitive or learning limitations that impact daily living activities. Student must be enrolled for full or part-time studies for the 2024-2025 academic year with a declared major in a health-related field at a Canadian post-secondary institution that is recognized by Universities Canada; in a health-related program at Nova Scotia Community College; or at a recognized healthcare technology institution.

ReMax Quest for Excellence Scholarship - $1,000
Re/Max is awarding 40 scholarships to students from across Canada. Participants must be a Grade 12 student attending high school in the 2025/2026 academic year, who have not previously participated in graduation commencement ceremonies in the past. Amy Farnell Education Awards - $2,000 per year
In honour of Amy Farnell, long-time supporter and cherished friend, Autism Nova Scotia and the Craig Foundation are pleased to present the Amy Farnell Education Award(s) to eligible Nova Scotian students who identify as autistic/on the autism spectrum, and who have been accepted into a full-time post-secondary program. Nova Scotia Youth Climate Bursary - $2,500 (multiple awards)
The Nova Scotia Youth Climate Bursary provides financial support for youth in Nova Scotia to pursue training opportunities, professional development, post-secondary education, or other educational experiences that will help to address climate change. To be eligible for the bursary:
You will be between 14 and 24 years old on May 1, 2026.
You are currently living in Nova Scotia and pursuing education or training within the province.

Bridgewater & Area Kinsmen - Norm Swain Memorial Award - $400
The bursary provides several $400 bursaries for South Shore applicants in their quest for higher learning. To be eligible applicants need to intend to apply as a new full time student to a recognized post-secondary institution for this fall.

NSGEU Members' Dependent Scholarships - $1,000 - $1,500

Emera (Nova Scotia Power) Employees’ Children Scholarship
The Emera Scholarship for Employees’ Children offers one non-renewable $2,000 award to children/dependents of regular employees or retirees of Emera Inc., Emera Energy, Emera New Brunswick, and Emera Newfoundland & Labrador. Past recipient winners are welcome to re-apply each year. Recipients are selected based on a solid academic record (minimum 75% average), their written essay, (community) leadership, involvement in extracurricular activities and financial need.

The Chris Huskilson Emera Scholarship - $40,000
To honor his entrepreneurial spirit, business accomplishments, and commitment to the region and our future leaders, Emera has established the Chris Huskilson Emera Scholarship valued at $40,000.The recipient will also receive the opportunity to complete a paid, 12-week internship and mentorship from a mentor from one of Emera’s companies. Applicants must be entering first year of an Undergraduate Program in the areas of Science (natural), Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, or Mathematics from an Atlantic Canadian University in September 2025; demonstrate academic excellence (80% average or above); must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants, and a resident of one of the four Atlantic Provinces.

Dr. P. Anthony Johnstone Memorial Entrance Scholarship
This $6,000 scholarship is available to Nova Scotia students entering their first year of university. The Province established the scholarship in 1991 to honour the life and work of the late Tony Johnstone, a long-time educator and human rights advocate who devoted his life to promoting multicultural understanding and social equality.
To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must live in Nova Scotia, be graduating from high school and beginning an undergraduate degree program at a Maritime university in the fall. CPA Nova Scotia Scholarships - $1,000 (multiple awards)
Students who are cuurrently enrolled in grade 12 and are pursuing a business program at a Nova Scotia University or College (Acadia, CBU, Dal, MSVU, NSCC, St. F. X., SMU or Universite Sainte-Anne) with an overall average of 65% in Grades 10 to 12 (based on the most current available information) with an interest in a career in accounting or business; and someone that is involved in school and community activities.

The Hockey Nova Scotia Academic Athletic Award is presented annually to a male or female student-athlete entering a program of study at a technical school, college, or university in Canada. Mosaik Credit Union Merit Award - 10 awards of $2,000 NOW AVAILABLE
To be eligible, graduates must be a member of or a dependent of a member of the Mosaik Credit Union; attending a full time post-secondary program in the fall; show consistent effort in the school environment (both academic and extracurricular); consistent/regular attendance throughout school year; and satisfactory grades. Graduating student who lives in Lunenburg County and who are planning to further education at post secondary education in the fields of Environmental Science, biology/ecology or earth sciences.

Earl Bailly Bursary Fund - $500
Earl Bailly (1903-1977) was born in Lunenburg. He contracted polio at age 3 and became quadriplegic, paralyzed from the shoulders down. His mother, a teacher, taught him to hold a pencil in his mouth to write. As a child, he became interested in drawing, progressing from pen and ink sketches to watercolours and oils to the difficult technique of linoleum block printing. Earl Bailly became very famous for his oil paintings.
Criteria: All high school students are eligible to apply for funding, preference will be given to students having a physical disability that presents challenges in pursuing their chosen art form. Art forms include music, visual art, dance, theatre, writing and fine craft, etc. Bursary funds may be used for a workshop, individual tuition, an arts camp program, each led by a relevant professional, or towards first year tuition at a post-secondary program where study will include relevant art.

Named in honour of its first recipient, the $1,000 Sarah K. The Department of Energy is a rich source of careers in the renewable energy sector. To help students gain the skills needed to work and conduct research in the sector, 20 scholarships are available to those entering natural resource and renewable energy-related programs:
10 scholarships for university-bound students, valued at $12,000 each ($3,000 per year, renewable for 4 years)
10 non-renewable Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) scholarships valued at $3,000 each
University scholarships are awarded to graduating high school students who have been accepted to a bachelor's degree program in business, science or engineering at an accredited university. NEW SSRCE French Second Language Scholarship - $1,250
Awarded to a graduating high school student in any French Second Language Program who has shown a genuine interest in learning the French language, a passion for participating in learning experiences that improve French language skills and pursuing French studies at the university level with a future goal of French Second Language Teaching as a career path. The student should be enrolled in a minimum of one grade 12 French course of any French program (Core French, Integrated French, French Immersion, IB French) in the current school year.

NSGEU High School Essay/Artistic Expression Awards - 24 x $500
Criteria: Graduating high school students who are attending post-secondary in the fall are eligible to apply. Complete a 750 word essay OR submit a form of artistic expression demonstrating the history and importance of unions or NSGEU in your community. Complete the application and return to NSGEU.

Medavie Scholarship - 5 x $5,000
Up to five scholarships of $5,000 each will be awarded this year to youth who are living with a mental health challenge of their own or that of a family member and are pursuing health-related post-secondary studies at a recognized Canadian university or community college and plan to pursue a career in their health-related field of studies. Each scholarship will be renewable for up to three additional years, subject to continued eligibility.

Exhibition Association of Nova Scotia Scholarship Fund - $1,000
The applicant and/or their parent(s)/guardian(s) must participate in a local exhibition or fair and must be attending as a full-time student at a post secondary institute (college or university) in the fall. Applicants should also have aspirations of working in the Agricultural Industry.

NS Dept of Education Scholarship Program for African Nova Scotia Students - Varies

SEIU Local 2 Bursary - 3 @ $1,000
Awarded to students who will be attending a university or community college in the 2023-2024 school year. This bursary is for first time or returning students. The individual applying for the bursary must be a dependent and/or member of SEIU Local 2, NS and the member must be in good standing with the union.

J.D. Shatford Memorial Trust Scholarship - Varies
Eligible applicants must be 25 years old or less; with permanent residency of the student and their Family within the Trust’s geographic boundaries during the last three (3) years of high school (Grades 10 to 12) and continued Family residency within the Trust’s geographic boundaries following high school graduation while receiving funding from the Trust; proof of acceptance at an accredited university, community college or vocational-type institution; and applicants for full time study only to be considered. Note: Annual 1st Time Applicant Meeting - Tuesday, May 5th at 7:30pm (for High School Students)

Kidney Foundation Bursary - 4 x $500
Awarded annually to students whose families have been affected financially by kidney disease. For more information and application, click here.
Selection of bursary recipients will be on the basis of their academic achievement, leadership, financial need and professional goals.
Any kidney patient, the spouse of a kidney patient, or a dependent child of a kidney patient may apply for a bursary. A kidney patient is defined as one on any mode of dialysis, is transplanted or has been diagnosed with chronic renal disease.
The applicant must be a permanent resident of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador or Prince Edward Island.
All post-secondary programs must be approved and recognized by accredited institution.

Jordan's Principle Scholarship - 2 x $2,500 and 2 x $5,000
Criteria: Graduates who are First Nations students studying children's health or children's disabilities at a Canadian post-secondary institution; demonstrated commitment to Indigenous children's health and community service; demonstrated academic commitment and achievement; financial need will be taken into consideration.
