The term "lumberjack" was originated in Canada with the boom of forestry work. While this article focuses primarily on Canadian lumberjacks, American loggers and logging camps were found primarily along the Pacific Northwest and the Great Lake area. This meant that many Canadian and American logging camps would have shared close borders.
This website provides more information on American loggers and camps, as well as an impressive catalog of photos from early 1900's logging sites.
