Garden Fair 2023
Garden Fair 2023
Garden Fair is a yearly art fair that started in 2015 by the MFA cohort within the Experimental Animation program. The event is focused on promoting marginalized artists within the animation industry such as BiPOC, Queer, and Disabled artists.
In 2023, I and 5 other students pulled off the ultimate heist, holding the biggest Garden Fair in the main gallery with 50+ vendors, and ultimately raising over 500 dollars for charity.
This is what the organization of it all looked like!
I started with confirming the budget with our Program Director, from there I sent out an email to collect my team to start working with. We would meet weekly to discuss and update our progress. I set up a spreadsheet with all the tasks that needed to be done, where people could sign up for what they were available to help out with. As the tasks were completed I would check off the boxes green - to have a faster visual way of seeing what was left to be done.
We then sent out a sign up form to everyone on campus, where for the first time - students outside of the Experimental Animation program were able to participate.
Then transforming this information into an actionable track sheet to track if people have paid the tabling fee.
After I received a complete list of who had sent in their tabling fee, I made a digital version of the layout of the tables, so that people could pick their tables first come first serve digitally, instead of the chaos previously when done in person day of. This also incentivized people to pay the tabling fee and we were able to make sure that more people were able to participate if people dropped out.
After all the sending of emails and coordination - it was the day of the event. We set up the tables, the decorations, and other preparations the event went smoothly and was a complete blast!
