In my time as a student representative for Student Union I regularly spoke with faculty and even was able to attend faculty meetings to discuss topics important to my peers. One such topic was introducing more professional prepartaion into the program. After coordinating stop motion studio tours with faculty Steven Chiodo, I wanted to have programming that catered to 2d animation, and how alumni of the program found their foothold with their experimental practice's in the "real world".
A lot of the documentation of all the behind the scenes process was lost sadly.
I created a survey to see what questions or practices where within the program. From there I worked with Steven Chiodo and Jamie Wolfe to create a guest list of people who would be best at responding to the questions from students. It was also important to me that this was also a networking moment where alumni could speak with current students and connect.

Through Student Union I was connected with the Center for Life and Work department at CalArts, who happily provided funding for the program. Invites and budgets for ordering catering were sent out, a request to reserve the space and chairs were sent out and received. Then with the expert coordination of Steven Chiodo we created a cozy set for the guests to relax and chat about their experiences post-grad. The event was a huge success with over 70 students attending almost double of what we expected.
