As an athlete, it is important that you begin looking early at the NCAA eligibility requirements for the particular Division you are looking to go in to. There are three divisions and each division has different high school requirements. It is important that you look at these requirements so that you do not jeopardize your opportunity to play sports at the college level.
One of the first things to consider is your ACT/SAT score. It is advised as an athlete that you take the ACT/SAT three times.
Once in the spring of your junior year before the school administered SAT so as to become familiar with how the SAT works
Take the school administered SAT
Then, if your score is not high enough or your not satisfied with it, retake the ACT/SAT in the fall of your senior year before signing deadlines

This link will give you all of the important information regarding eligibility. Also, this site is important for checking core course requirements in high school. It is important that your schedule contains these core classes so that you do not have to make them up down the road at ICC or some other community college.
