Dear Parents:

Welcome to Sixth Grade at Kanapaha Middle School! I am so happy to have the opportunity to work with you and your child this year. I know this is an exciting time and I look forward to helping your child grow and develop on our learning journey! Together, we will make this year a successful experience!

My name is Jennalee Edwards and I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher! I grew up in DeSoto County where I attended Memorial Elementary and DeSoto County Middle & High School.  I graduated from the University of South Florida in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and an ESOL Endorsement.  After graduation, I began teaching kindergarten and then third grade at Memorial Elementary. Three years later, I started my family. I have two children, Graci and Kalli.  Both are in eleventh grade at Buccholtz High School.  This is my 18th year teaching.  I have taught kindergarten, first, second, third, middle school, and high school journalism.  I became a teacher because I love to work with children and be a part of their learning experiences.

I believe a great parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year, I will communicate with you through my classroom website, progress reports, telephone calls, e-mails, and parent-teacher conferences.  I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions.
