i’ve been creating art ever since i was a child; growing up i always knew i never wanted art to become my profession. as nice as the idea is- i’ve never wanted to get paid for something i see as a hobby. art is supposed to be something that brings enjoyment, not stress. having this in mind, i’ve worked the last few years to prioritize art that makes me happy, using my interests as inspiration for what i make. on the occasion i will try to make art with a deep meaning behind it, but usually i try not to take art that seriously.
my go to medium(s) of choice are plain old pen and pencil- they always have been. the possibilities are endless when it comes to what can be created with just pen and paper. they’re convenient to carry around and are always available in some way.
despite my hesitance to try anything new, i’ve began to dapple in other mediums & tools. over the course of this year i’ve grown overly fond of alcohol markers and paint pens; together the two create a comfortable contrast between the focus and the scenery of a drawing. as the 2023-24 year came to an end, i slowly crawled out of my comfort zone and began painting more. i've worked to become comfortable with acrylic paints alongside watercolor- even painting with calligraphy ink a few times.
last (and most certainly not least,) my personal best pieces of art are done in pencil and some type of ink, either an outlining pen or calligraphy ink. i'm planning to work with calligraphy ink more in the future, along with exploring more art styles as i go forward.
-thank you,
