Art has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. For me, art is everything and more. I feel like my brain is just wired to see things in different layers and colors and textures. I tend to get really connected to my art and when I'm having a boost of motivation, I like to just let my brush go where it feels necessary.
I've noticed that my art really represents how I feel. I create things that mirror my emotions but I didn't really realize that until I became a little older. My nature scenes all match exactly how I viewed my life at that point in time. For example, in the painting Misty Cabin, I just started my second semester of my sophomore year and I just wanted a break from all the change and the responsibilities. In my painting it's a cabin all by itself in cloudy dark woods and I didn't notice it at the time, but it represented exactly how I was feeling.
My favorite medium to work with has got to be acrylic. I've just grown such an attachment to it and I feel like I can really connect with my work in a different way when I use acrylic. I also have been experimenting a lot with watercolor and I'm still learning new techniques and styles. I also have been trying to open up to clay a little more which I originally was pretty intimidated by.
I hope that when you scroll through my gallery, you try to imagine yourself in those places. I really want you to feel the art and connect with it. I hope you enjoy and maybe even let it inspire you!
