Title I is a federally funded program under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). The purpose of Title I is to help low-achieving students meet the state’s challenging academic content and performance standards. The Title I program offers a variety of services which may include: additional teachers and support staff, extra time for instruction, a variety of teaching methods and materials, small classes and additional training for staff. Schools qualify for Title I funds based on economic need as indicated by the number of free/reduced lunches. All Title I schools operate as school-wide programs, which means all students in the school may benefit from Title I. Additional information is located on the school and system websites.
Christie DePratter, Parent Involvement Coordinator, works directly with Title I, and can be reached through email at christie.depratter@glynn.k12.ga.us, by phone at (912) 267-4135 extension 7974, and in the Parent Resource Room in Learning Cottage Room B.
