Dear Community Members, 

It is a true pleasure to announce the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Our team of faculty and staff look forward to welcoming new and returning families to the Global Jaya community on the first day of school–August 5th. The upcoming academic year will be one of continued focus on academic excellence and student wellbeing along with fostering our sense of community. Additionally, Global Jaya will be a busy place with many events, activities, and enhancements coming to fruition this year. I encourage you to read through this edition of Kontak, our monthly newsletter, as we are sharing important information regarding the start of the school year, the upcoming new family induction day, and key dates to be aware of throughout the start of the academic  year. 

To begin, this past week we engaged in our new hire induction program where we welcomed sixteen new faculty members to our Global Jaya family.  These new faculty members join us from a variety of countries, including Turkey, Russia, Ghana, Portugal, the United States, and Colombia, as well as from our host country of Indonesia. Additionally, these incoming faculty members possess a wide range of academic experiences that ensure they are prepared to continue our journey of success and will enhance the fabric of our school. Each new faculty member has prepared a welcome message to share on our New GJS Faculty Bios page, and I encourage you to take a moment to learn more about these individuals. 

Along with the new hire induction program,  over the summer break our team focused on several building enhancements, including finishing off our new athletic field, upgrades to floors and bathrooms in the academic buildings, and enhancements to our wifi network.  Additionally, we are excited to announce that we will have new canteen services this year provided by Akara, so we look forward to an enhanced variety of food offerings for our students and community to enjoy daily. The admissions team continued to work over the summer break with support from members of our GJS faculty and leadership. For the 2024-2025 school year, we have so far enrolled a total of 109 new students for the upcoming academic year who will be joining the GJS community. Our admissions and enrollment remain open, processing the ongoing and still incoming student applications and admission requests for the new school year. 

For the week of July 29, we welcome back all faculty for our whole school orientation program. During this time, faculty will work collaboratively to prepare for the upcoming academic year, ensuring that each Global Jaya student enjoys a focused and academically enriched classroom experience this year. 

Our new student induction program takes place on August 1st from 7:45 to 12:00, and we are excited to formally welcome our new families to the GJS community.  The agenda planned for the new family induction day is designed to support our newest community members by developing shared understanding, introducing our administrative and curricular leaders, providing insight into our educational practices, as well as clarifying our day-to-day procedures here at Global Jaya. All new families have received direct contact from the school regarding the timing and agenda for the induction day.  Moreover, all parents–new and returning–are asked to review the Primary and Secondary Kontak Pages for full details on information on the August 5th start of school the following week.  

As we launch the new school year, I look forward to hosting the first Morning Coffee with Pak Howard on August 8, 2024. We will meet in the Dance Room, Second floor of the Gymnasium, commencing at 8:00 am, and our focus will be on ensuring success for the upcoming school year and developing an understanding of our iReady assessment for students in years 2 to 10.
