The Marines mentor and guide students, providing both classroom instruction and practical training. They emphasize character development, leadership, citizenship, and personal responsibility. Their influence extends beyond the classroom; through their dedication and passion, they instill confidence, discipline, and a sense of purpose in the youth, empowering them to become responsible and productive members of society. The impact of the SMI and MI on the students at Goochland High School is profound, as they shape future leaders and foster a commitment to excellence.

Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Williams is a decorated and dedicated Marine veteran who gave more than two decades of his life in service to our country. With an impressive career that spanned 23 years on active duty, LtCol. Williams retired in 2017.
During his tenure, LtCol Williams was at the forefront of the nation's defense, participating in critical combat deployments. He actively supported both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, pivotal campaigns that were instrumental in the fight against global terrorism.
LtCol. Williams has transitioned from the battlefield to the classroom post-retirement, but his commitment to serving the community remains unshaken. He now holds the position of Senior Marine Instructor at Goochland High School. In this role, he continues to impact the next generation, instilling values of discipline, leadership, and patriotism in them. Through his experiences and teachings, LtCol Williams is shaping young minds, preparing them for potential military careers and roles as responsible citizens.

Staff Sergeant Daniel Strong of the United States Marine Corps stands as a symbol of resilience and dedication. Serving his country with distinction, his active-duty tenure spanned a decade filled with sacrifices, challenges, and unwavering commitment. Unfortunately, the perils of war caught up with him in 2008, when he was grievously wounded in combat during his deployment in Iraq. This injury led to a prolonged two-year recovery period at a Naval Hospital.
Staff Sergeant Strong's engagements weren't limited to the Iraq war. He also valiantly served during Operation Enduring Freedom, showcasing his unwavering dedication to the mission and his country's safety. However, the challenges he faced on the battlefield led to his medical retirement in 2010.
Undeterred by the adversities that forced his early retirement, Staff Sergeant Strong channeled his passion for the Marine Corps into education. In 2011, he embarked on a new journey as a Marine Instructor for the MCJROTC program. Further, in 2014, he brought his experience, wisdom, and discipline to the students of Goochland High School. There, he continues to inspire, teaching young minds the values of leadership, integrity, and commitment.
