Critical Illness Insurance
Hospital Indemnity
Whole Life Insurance
Short Term Disability Insurance (Please note that employees enrolled in the VRS Hybrid Retirement Plan are not eligible for this benefit.)
Medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts will continue to be administered through Chard Snyder. The 2025 contribution limits are $3,300 (medical) and $5,000 per household or $2,500 per year if married filing separately (dependent care). Employees are required to enroll in this benefit each year. Per the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), employees enrolled in the HDHP plan may NOT enroll in a medical flexible spending account.
RETIREMENT
Open enrollment is also a great time to think about saving extra money for retirement by contributing to a 403(b) or 457(b) account. These accounts are meant to supplement (not replace) employees’ Virginia Retirement System (VRS) savings; however, VRS Hybrid plan members/employees should ensure they are maximizing their voluntary contributions to the defined contribution component of their plan prior to making contributions to a 403(b) or 457(b) account.
