Rating of towns based on how habitable or even how luxurious it'd be to live there (not very)
Small abstract diary-esque sketch book. One of my friends back in 2017 showed me a vent-book he had, where if he was feeling angry or sad, he'd sort of channel that into productivity, and so that's what I did too. Definitely fun and I feel like i made a handful of interesting images.
A larger sketchbook with inverted images, since they look really interesting, with very sort of scatterbrained writing and sketches over watercolors and mixed-media.
Some photos I took during the early days of the corona virus event. I don't know why I did, but doing something with my time is better than doing nothing with my time I suppose.
(A3) Topography Map Of Penllyn and surrounding area apocalypse, inspired soviet war maps and mad max. all town names are different, the sea's receded.
Painting which was initially meant to be a picture of two rectangles with both having squares in their middles and two rectangles on top. And I planned that would symbolize something to do with an interpretation I had of the old Cain and Able story.
But then I changed my mind about 25% through. And i'm honestly really happy with the results, it looks unique to me.
Made a painting based on medieval Christian depictions of hell and based on Francis Bacon's early red paintings. I like it a lot, lots of fun to make, listened to scary stories while painting it, great memories here and I really feel like I learned a lot while painting it, I like the smell of the oils and the linseed oil. what a wholesome experience.
Sketched on a CD; this was really fun, it's like a collage of a few different images. Turned that reddish card in the back there into a little packaging thing around it. I don't even know why I did it, but once again, I'm happy I did. If anything i'm sad i didn't do more.
Gif of a fantasy map I made in Microsoft paint.
Flip Backwards, you can see individual frames in better detail.
Using knowledge of how winds work and climate areas work to decide the climate of areas on this map. Makes it all feel a lot more scientific and realistic. And therefore hopefully more believable.
A topographic map of mountain formations.
Tectonic plates with movements they'd have to take so as to create the mountains outlined in the previous image.
Did some more digital art on vexology and maps, namely urban geography. But using a more medieval looking style since it's a code and convention of these sorts of fantasy settings.
Created flags with meanings, since all flags have to be symbolic of a national set of ideas or spirit. The top being one of control, dominance and hierarchical structures. The second being one based on a pact of compromise between two different sects of society and the bondage through blood and struggle to create a 'pure' society for all. A tad cultish really. But that's the fun of these sorts of things.
A painting about one of the most emotionally difficult times in my life. Meant to have a chronological narrative order to it. Like snapshots of my life and images of symbolism which the viewer won't understand, yet hold immense weight to me; a strange little phenomena I suppose. Like all paintings, their meaning change over time. This painting over time for me has become one which calls for reflection and also became tied to this sort of post apocalyptic idea I was dreaming up. Like it's about me seeing my world come to an end in the physical realm, as well as in an emotional sense.
This is a painting I made deep into quarantine about breaking lockdown rules. It's got a nice contrast and has this ghostly look to it. I like it. The painting feels quiet and cold except for that red-hot band at the bottom, which is meant to be decribing some sort of undercurrent of love, desire, passion or danger.
Pages I made in a small sketchbook during quarantine about some artistic passions, keeping my mind busy, starting a distant relationship during quarantine, going to work in quarantine and being bored at my till at the super market I work at.
I called it 'The Reflection' because it's based off an Elliott Smith song called 'Pretty Mary K (other Version)'
Pages from the same sketchbook, but later on.
Planned out some designs for a big robot for the post apolcalyptic theme. But absent-minded drawings of things like powerlines kept appearing; a juxtaposition of the menial and the otherworldly.
I've also incorporated a stream of consciousness style of writing; comprised of ramblings and little poems, letting my new relationship occupy a lot of my thoughts and about half of the page while i make the design for this killing machine.
Photos of me in a cold black and white filter, then some photos of the surrounding night around a big factory with distortion techniques.
I felt like this also tied in with my relationship in quarantine and the dystopian visuals of the factory at night and me laying in a field. The photos are distorted and have a slightly haunting overtone, as though they're remnants of a time that's gone and dead. The distorted visuals create a sense of movement; the moments were gone in a flash and now the world is a confusing mess of darkness with swirling hypnotic washes of colour like a child waving a sparker in an endless, dark void.
Pictures of red edited landscapes, machinery and abandoned caravans around Penllyn to give a warm rustic apolcalyptic feeling.
The machinery images definitely were a big inspiration for my robotic machine sketches.
Pictures of greenery and marshes around Penllyn for areas which are overgrown and dilapidated in a place where nature has reclaimed them. That's the sort of forgotten feeling these are meant to invoke, while looking quite aesthetically pleasing in some way too.
'No matter the stress or pain the world goes through, there will always be some sort of beauty in blossom' would be some sort of pseudo-poetic or melodramatic view on the other part I wanted to capture here as well.
Blue photography once again inspired by this Penllyn idea and theme I've got going, mixed with my relationship. The merging of these two topics has sort of lead to some very interesting and intriguing ideas. The medium I've used tells the viewer more about my perception of my passions and ideas, as opposed to detailing the individual topics and fully fleshing them out. My sketches and pictures become an incoherent directional journey; an aesthetically pleasing ramble of images and ideas.
My thoughts when I'm feeling blue and have this pessimistic mentality that something bad is going to happen in my life. And that i should detach from all positive things since it'll only hurt me.
About the Police and the Corona Virus Outbreak with themes of doomsday, authoritarianism and the unraveling of societal order.
