Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to Mr. Shohen’s CAD and Engineering classes. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you. We will be using Autodesk 2023 products in class and CAD web apps for the desktops and chromebooks. You will have time to work on all assignments during class time. It is not required to download the software for your own computer but free for students to use at home.
Below is the link to download any Autodesk software at home for free. I recommend downloading AutoCAD 2023 (about 4.5-8 gigs of memory) for all classes. There is a version of AutoCAD for Mac OSX. AutoCAD web will be used on the chromebook web.autocad.com. We will also use TinkerCAD for CAD 8 and some High School CAD https://www.tinkercad.com/.
If you’re in Engineering, CAD I, II & III you may want to download Inventor 2023 (about 5.5 gigs of memory) and Revit 2023 (about 5.5 gigs of memory). Inventor will be used for 3D engineering drawings and Revit will be used for architecture drawings. Onshape www.onshape.com, HomeStyler https://3d.homestyler.com/, and SketchUp my.sketchup.com can be used at home on the chromebooks.
If you have a PC check your computer’s hard drive before downloading CAD programs to see if you have a 64-bit Operating System. Click the start menu then Right click on ‘This PC’ and click on ‘Properties’. Here it will list your system information.
Click the link below and register as a GRHS student. You can use your school email address.

Make sure you write down the Serial Number and Product Key when you see it. You will need this to register the software. Please use the Confirmation letter on the classroom page.
Don’t get overwhelmed with these complex programs, I will teach you in steps how to use them.
Thank you,
Mr. Shohen
