CC Math 6 and CC Math 6A

Welcome to 6th Grade Math in Room 101!

I will post important news and reminders for our class here throughout the year. Click on your class in the top right corner to find your homework listed and important links that we will be using.

ALEKS

*ALEKS is a weekly assignment that is graded!! Please make sure to be working on topics in your ALEKS program each week. 5 topics need to be completed EACH week!! ALEKS has designed a program specific to your level and will have you work on areas of math that you need to work on. 1 Topic = 1 Lesson. Open your ALEKS account and click on "Continue My Path." It will then take you to a lesson in math that you need to work on. The title at the top of the screen is the "Topic" that you are working on. For example, it may say something like "Rounding Decimals." That would be the first topic you need to complete. When you have read about it and looked at the examples, click next. It will then give you practice problems. As you answer them correctly, a bar at the top right of the screen will begin to fill in. When that is all colored in, you have completed that topic. It will then take you to the next topic you are ready to learn about. You need to complete 5 of these topics by Sunday night when you go to bed. Each week, 5 topics will be due by midnight on Sunday night. You are welcome to and encouraged to do more than just 5 topics, but you will be graded on completing a minimum of 5 topics each week. The assignment will start over on Monday morning for the new week. You are welcome to work on ALEKS at home, in our classroom, or in the school library. Plan your time well to be able to complete 5 topics each week. Please email me if you have any questions about ALEKS!!!

"OVERS"

*Overs are a way to give you a second chance!!

If you get a low score on homework (1 or 2), I want you to have a second chance to redo the assignment to help you understand it better and to help you raise your grade. If you earn a 1 or 2 on homework, I will give it back to you the very next day with,"Overs? Due on________" written at the top. Overs will be due the following Friday. To complete the overs, you get a new piece of binder paper and use it to only fix the problems you missed. You do not have to redo the entire assignment--only the ones you missed. Please do not write on, erase, or change the original paper. All overs need to be done on a new piece of paper. Make sure to show all steps of your work. Staple this new binder paper to the back of your original paper. Turn it in to the "Overs" box on the side counter on or before the due date. Doing so may allow you to bring your grade up to a 3. You are welcome to come in for help before school and I will help you complete your overs or answer any questions you have about your assignment. What a great deal!!
