September 8-12, 2025
September is recognized as National Suicide Prevention Month, a significant period dedicated to honoring the lives lost to suicide and acknowledging the countless individuals and students who have grappled with suicidal thoughts. This month serves as a reminder of the profound impact suicide has on students, families, and communities across the nation. It is an opportunity to elevate awareness regarding suicide prevention strategies while disseminating messages of hope and resilience. Throughout September, and indeed throughout the entire year, it is imperative that we actively engage in suicide prevention efforts. This involves fostering connections within our communities, embracing cultural considerations, leveraging data and research, and collaborating with various stakeholders to effectively tackle this pressing public health issue that has affected millions of students.
Wellness Week was established to highlight the significance of maintaining good mental health through effective self-care and exercise. Coinciding with Suicide Prevention Week, this initiative brings together counselors and Student Support Specialists from across the district to coordinate events and educational opportunities at all schools. The goal is to raise awareness about wellness and its crucial role in mental health.
This year's National Suicide Prevention Week is scheduled from September 8th - September 14, 2024. Join us in promoting mental well-being and learning valuable strategies for a healthier, more balanced life.
