Course Description:
An accelerated study of the basic principles of music theory: notation, scales, keys, harmony, melody and four-part writing, form, ear training, sight singing and harmonic analysis. A brief overview of music history from medieval to contemporary times is also included. This integrative and challenging class is for students planning to continue music studies or performance training.
Course Description:
This course is designed specifically for the academically gifted music student. Its content is a continuation of the harmonic principles taught in Music Theory 161 with a focus on the art of composition. This course emphasizes skills and content required to perform successfully on the AP exam for this course given in May. The student may receive college credit, advanced college placement, or both depending on the exam score. Honors credit.

Course Description:
