We are here to help and look forward to working with you! On this page you will find some helpful information about resources you may need when you do research with your classes and students. Below you will also find some common pages that will be helpful for you to have easy access to throughout the year. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out to one of the librarians for more help with anything you may need from the library!
Our job is to also support you and your curricular needs in the classroom. Here are some of the main ways we can support you:
INDEPENDENT BOOK CHECKOUT
If you are doing an independent book unit, we are here to help! Make a reservation to come on down to the library to have your students check out a book of interest. We have a large collection of both fiction and non-fiction novels that are available for checkout. Please talk to a librarian about your wants and needs before coming in so we can best prepare for your class(es)!
RESEARCHING OUR DATABASES/SOURCES
One of our main jobs is to facilitate and teach research skills. We have many different databases that you and our students have full access to (some password protected) and we are here to teach what makes a good source as well as how to navigate the Web/Google. We also work together to create a Works Cited page using NoodleTools.
BOOK TALKS
We are happy to talk about current and trending books (or popular books) that have been checked out in our library! If you would like us to set you up with a book talk, please contact the librarians.
CURRICULUM SUPPORT
We are here to help you in your research endeavors, but we are also happy to help with project/research development. We are more than willing to collaborate with you to make the process much easier and to help you do some of the leg work. We can help provide you resources, books or other supplemental items you may need!
HELP STARTING A NEW RESEARCH PROJECT
Looking to bring research into your class(es) but don't know where to begin? We can help with that! Email the librarians (or come on down!) to talk about how we can help you and what resources we have to offer you.
PLC SUPPORT
We are more than willing to come into one of your PLC/Collaboration times to discuss a project, talk about plans or scheduling, or review how a project went. Reach out and we can come to you during one of these times. This is teacher-only time.
We are glad you asked! While our main purpose is to help students find books that they love and to teach research skills to many different classes, we also are available in other ways. Interested in learning more, please reach out to a librarian to see what we have to offer!
Here are some other ways you may be able to use the library space/spaces we can offer you:
FILM/RECORD PROJECTS
We have multiple green screens that are available to students. We also have different recording devices to help for group book talks or group discussions. All are available to use while in the library!
FULL MAC LAB/PRINTERS
We hold 32 iMacs in the library and can hold an entire class. If you are looking for a lab space (for research or otherwise) we are happy to host you and your class(es). This space can be reserved using the link above!
LIBRARY HUB
The library currently holds another Hub space in the classroom. There are six AppleTVs where students can present in groups or work together in a setting like you might in the Hub upstairs. This space can be reserved using the link above!
CREATIVE PROJECT SPACE
We have many different resources available for you and your students if you would like them to work on something such as a poster, a creative project, stop motion, etc. We also have the Creative Corner that is available for checkout with a larger table for bigger groups to utilize.
STATION ROTATION
Sign up for different spaces to allow your students to move around multiple stations for a lesson. We have multiple white boards to use at different stations, projectors/TVs on each end of the library to allow for instruction/directions.
BREAKOUT ROOMS
We have multiple small rooms that can be checked out in conjunction with another space. If your classes need their own space for recording/performing, we have extra spaces to spread your class out to get the job done!
SUNSHINE
Just want a break from your classroom? Feel free to sign up for some time in a nice space with windows and sunshine and some space to spread out!
