Glastonbury High School offers a comprehensive education with an extensive list of course options for students.
Every student should take as challenging a program as appropriate. First, understand the course requirements for graduation. Then, let your interests, abilities, and plans for the future guide your elective course choices. Classes will prepare students for life after high school and careers, and/or college studies.
College requirements vary greatly and depend on the school's selectivity and the specific program to which the student is applying. Knowing the entrance requirements of potential colleges is crucial. Most colleges indicate that the most important factors in their admissions decisions are the quality and rigor of the student’s high school program and the student’s performance in that program.
Begin with the required courses and then fit the electives you wish to take into the number of periods available.
Use the sample schedule and worksheet below to help.
Remember, you must enroll in at least six credits per year

Students who submit their course selections on time will receive their schedules before September and have an opportunity to make appropriate educational changes. No schedule changes will be allowed once school begins in September.
Please be aware that a course may be canceled or enrollment restricted for any of the following reasons: lack of enrollment, available facilities, staffing, or budget considerations.
Although world language taken at the middle school does not receive high school credit, some colleges consider those courses equal to those taken in high school. World language taken at the middle school appears on the student’s transcript with a grade but without credit. Both the different number of years required and the fact that some colleges have their own “exit” requirements make it advisable for students to continue their study of world language beyond grade 10.
A student should register with the NCAA by the spring of their junior year if they intend to play a Division I or Division II sport in college. To register, please visit the NCAA website.
Please note that it is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the NCAA Eligibility Center has the materials necessary for certification.
