Glastonbury Public Schools recently extended a warm welcome to Hartford Open Choice families new to Nayaug School. The Welcoming Day event featured a light breakfast, classroom visits, activities for the visiting students, and time to talk with other Nayaug families. The school principal, assistant principal and the district's Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion handed out welcome gifts, and new students also received backpacks with school supplies.
Several of Glastonbury's Nayaug families (Glastonbury residents and Hartford residents) volunteered to serve as "community connectors" to build relationships. They began creating new friendships right away. Nayaug teachers and staff were also on hand to answer questions, lead tours of the building, and visit with students in the classroom.
Once again this year, the day was marked by excitement, positive energy, and high spirits.
