This course will compare and contrast the major psychological and sociological perspectives while exposing the learner to current issues. Focus will include the introduction to research methods and development of strategies to gather reliable data pertaining to both group and individual behaviors.
Students will explore the different social and psychological problems that affect our lives and problem solve to find treatments and/or solutions to these issues.
Identify how race, gender, class, ethnicity, aging, population, and relationships affect day-to-day life.
Identify the major perspectives and theoretical approaches in Psychology & Sociology
Learn about human development, states of consciousness, sensation and perception
Understand the parts of the brain
Differentiate between personality types and disorders
Evaluate adjustments in one’s own life and society to optimize individual and societal behaviors.
Approach current issues with an open-mind & contribute beliefs and ideas
Demonstrate individual responsibility while gaining skills to be a collaborative team member
Become a proficient technology user and use resources efficiently & appropriately
