I am entering my 19th year of teaching. I am licensed as a social studies teacher (Integrated Social Studies 7-12) and also as an Intervention Specialist (Mild/Moderate K-12). For the past 12 years, I have been teaching Psychology & Sociology. I have also taught AP Psychology, US Government, and I developed the course "The History of American Criminal Justice in collaboration with a professor at Ohio State.
I am originally from Dover, Ohio, which is about 1.5 hours northeast of Gahanna. I am a 1995 graduate of Dover High School (Mr. Banks is a 1996 graduate from the same school). My undergraduate degree is in History from The Ohio State University (1999) and my Master's Degree is in education from Ashland University (2011). My original credentials to teach were issued by Capital University (2001).
I live in Blacklick with my wife (Tara), our two dogs (Primo & Jordie) and our tuxedo cat (Pickles). My wife is an investigative reporter and news anchor for ABC 6 & FOX 28 here in Columbus.
I really enjoy traveling, especially internationally. I have been to Italy six times. In fact, my wife and I were married in Cortona, Italy (2018). We love the mountains (Colorado) and spend several weekends during the summer camping. One of my favorite past times is attending concerts. I have seen the Dave Matthews Band 110 times since 1997. One of the most memorable shows was being front row in Prague, Czech Republic. Although this year will be different, my wife and I are season ticket members and attend nearly every Cleveland Browns home game.
As we move through this school year, I look forward to getting to know all of you! Even though we are beginning virtually, it will be a pleasure to have everyone in class!
