21- 25 June
Be an expert solving simple equations like: 5x + 4 = 19 and 2y - 2 = 10
Be able to expand brackets in more complicated algebraic expressions such as 8x + 24 = 8(x + 3)
Be able to factorise (put the brackets back) in algebraic expressions such as: 5x + 5y = 5(x + y ) and 15x + 20 = 5(3x + 4)
Be ready for our big topic test on Thursday.
By the end of these lessons, I will be able to factorise simple and more complicated algebraic expressions by spotting the highest common factor of each term.
Simple expression: 6a + 6b = 6(a + b)
More advanced: 8x + 24 = 8(x + 3)Highest common factor of 8x and 24 is 8.
