Title I Teachers, Tammy Donahue and Sherry Wall hosted a Holiday Grinch Reading Activity/Party for their students! It was a fun-filled event that started with Dr. Donahue reading "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." She was interrupted, however, when the Grinch, himself, stopped by for a quick visit! Students then received gifts from Dr. Donahue and Mrs. Wall. Each student received a book and stuffed toy (a character from their book). They will have an opportunity to read their book with their parents and earn prizes! Students also received a book entitled, "The Night Before the Snow Day." Parents are being asked to create a tradition where they share this book with their child the night before each snow day! Again, students will receive prizes for reading/sharing this book at home! The highlight of the party was when students from Mrs. Martin's Child Development class at Giles High School read books with the Title I students! Students were treated to Grinchy snacks! It was a great day for reading! Our hope is to inspire our students to read and let them see how fun reading can be!
Second Graders enjoy talking to a Giles High School Ambassador at their Grinch Reading Party! They had just finished their Grinchy cupcakes and drink and received their gift, a book entitled, "I am Max," that their Ambassador read to them. What a great time!
Kindergarten students enjoy a snack while listening to a story being read by a Giles High School Ambassador from Mrs. Martin's class.
Our Third Graders look very interested...in their snacks and the story!
Two Giles High School Ambassadors and Mrs. Huffman are working to make sure our First Graders heard a great story and had plenty of goodies! We are thankful for their help!
