I'm Jack Bannon, the proud son of a dad Air Force officer and a mom nurse. I've lived in a lot of different places but started calling Arizona home in 1976 when dinosaurs still roamed the earth. I earned a Bachelor of Music Performance degree and an Education Certificate from A.S.U., completed a year of graduate study at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, hold a Master of Orchestral Performance degree from the U.S. International University, and am certified by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. I served two terms as Vice-President of the Arizona Association for Jazz Education and am an active clinician for several state band festivals each year. I'm a past conductor of the Arizona 6th Grade All-State Band and am very proud to be the 2024 recipient of the O.M. Hartsell “Excellence in Teaching Music” award chosen by the Arizona Music Educators’ Association. This will be my 30th year teaching public school band!
As a trumpet player, I've performed with the San Diego Symphony, the Lincoln Symphony, and the Nebraska Chamber Orchestra. I was a member of The Groove Merchants (a local, 10-piece cover band) for 20 years. I currently play flugelhorn with the Salt River Brass and trumpet with the Superstition Jazz Orchestra.
