Hello. My name is Mrs. Schmidt-Dent, but students call me Coach Schmidt. After spending most of my life living and teaching in Minnesota, I moved to Arizona and joined the Mesquite PE family at the start of the 21-22 school year. I received my bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Health at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota in 2001, and have been teaching ever since. I also have my master's degree in Education with an emphasis in Special Populations.
After the school day, I can be found on the softball field coaching fastpitch softball at MJHS. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, watching movies, doing anything outside, and hanging with my family.
I look forward to meeting you and getting active!!

Follow directions and listen carefully to the teacher. This includes instructions for activities, safety procedures, and equipment use.
Be responsible for your own safety and the safety of others. This means avoiding dangerous behavior, respecting personal space, and being mindful of your surroundings.
Come to class prepared with appropriate attire and footwear. This usually means comfortable clothing that allows for movement and sneakers that provide good traction.
Treat equipment with care. Don't misuse or damage equipment, and put it away properly when you're finished using it.
Communicate with your teacher if you have any concerns or injuries.
Give your best effort in all activities, even if you find them challenging. This is an opportunity to learn and grow, and everyone has room for improvement.
Participate actively and engage in the activities. This means trying your best, following the rules, and not giving up easily.
Be positive and enthusiastic. A good attitude can make a big difference in your enjoyment of the class and the experience of your classmates.
Have fun! PE is a great opportunity to get active, learn new skills, and socialize with your classmates.
