How Do I Try Out for a Sport at MJHS?
Step 1:
Determine which sport(s), and which season(s) the sport is played and practiced.
Step 2:
Get a physical. This is an exam, sometimes called a “wellness visit”, in which a doctor checks your heart, your reflexes, etc, and makes sure you are ready to participate in sports. There is a specific form that must be completed! Make sure you take it with you!
Step 3:
Parents or guardians should create/update your account on Aktivate.com. There are a lot of questions about your medical history, insurance, etc. If you are interested in more than one sport, you can select multiple sports at this time.
Step 4:
Upload your physical, that you got from the doctor, into your Aktivate profile. This physical is good for one school year – once you get one in 7th grade, you are eligible for all sports that year.
Step 5:
Wait a few days. Once the office accepts your physical, your parent/guardian will have to go back in and complete a bunch of paperwork that requires “e-signatures”.... Such as concussion awareness, opioid awareness, etc.
Step 6:
LOOK for sign-ups when the season is about to start, LISTEN to the announcements and ATTEND any pre-season info meetings.
