Classroom Practices

Grading

* Infinite Campus-standard based and rubric grading, Report cards 4 times a year with progress reports sent home in between (must be signed)

* Parent/Teacher Conferences in October per request

* Grades taken from classwork, homework, and assessments

Homework- Reading at least 20 minutes per weeknight. Your child needs to record the book information and pages read on their reading log during ELA block. They are not always given AR time in class.

***Any unfinished classwork automatically becomes homework, excluding quizzes and tests. Please help your child get into the agenda habit by checking it and adding your initials daily. All assignments and homework will be written in their agenda.

Late Work – Students will have to complete their work at home, or during Fun Friday. Please make sure your student does not have late work! “The consequence for not doing the work is DOING THE WORK!”

Missing Work – In 4th Grade, we are trying to teach the children how to be more independent and responsible. If a student is missing homework or classwork, they need to first look in the absent bin for the papers. They need to come ask if they cannot find an extra copy.

C.T. – A C.T. circled symbol either stands for corrected together or completed together. If you see this on your child’s paper, it was their responsibility to properly check their work and answers. During that time, we review all of the concepts together and they can ask me any questions.

Agenda - Please help your child get in the habit of checking his/her agenda at home each day. This is an important organization tool for your child. If you initial their agenda, they will earn a ticket.

Absences – Make-up work will be sent home on the day your child returns unless you let the office know of another option (sending it home with a sibling or friend). Students will have two days for every day missed to make up assignments. They need to copy a classmate’s agenga then look in the absent bin for the papers.

Correct and Returns - If a paper says “Correct and Return” or “Redo” at the top, that means your student has the opportunity to correct the assignment for more credit. Once they have corrected and returned the assignment, I will cross out the old score and write the new grade at the top. The corrected assignment is due the following day.

Friday Folders – Each Friday your child will be bringing home his/her work in the Friday Folder. There will also be important class information such as notes, homework, and possibly papers to correct and return. Please look through this and have your child return the folder to school on Monday for a ticket.

Midterm Reports – Progress reports and missing assignment reports need to be signed by a parent and returned.
