Cooking Together Creates Memories

Cooking is a hands-on, multi sensory activity. It engrosses us through touch, taste, smell, sound, and emotion. The experiences of cooking as a child set a foundation for our relationship with food and cooking as an adult. The act of cooking allows your child to develop a positive connection with preparing food and getting to know fresh ingredients (i.e. fruits and vegetables). In addition, they learn the practical skills of reading and following recipe directions, measurement, and they are exposed to everyday applications of math and science.

I would like to encourage all families to cook a meal, or snack, with your children at least once a week. Allow your child to pick out a recipe, or one fruit and/or vegetable, they would like to try. Use the links below for inspiration. Now, get cooking, creating memories, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!
