Job Shadow

Job Shadow Questions- Ihle, Cael

Objective: Students will connect the job shadow experience to saving for a car.

Evidence Part 1:

A. Develop questions to ask the job shadow co-op.

B. Communicate and work productively with others, considering different perspectives, and cultural views to increase the quality of work.

Evidence Part 2:

A. Differentiate between gross and net income.

B. Determine your monthly income ("net").

C. This information should appear on your Spending Plan (see Standard 8).

Reflection:

Explain the connection between the job shadow experience and providing for your needs and wants (don't forget the car).

Evidence Part 2:

  • Your gross income is the money that you get paid before you have taxes, insurance, etc taken out of your paycheck. Net income is the amount of money that you actually get paid in a month or year; the money after taxes, insurance, etc.
  • $70,000/12= Monthly Gross income, Monthly Gross income * .66= Monthly Net income

Reflection:

The connection between the Job Shadow and providing for yourself and family is that you have to have a source of income. With that income you can mold what you can spend and do around that income. With lower income, you may not be able to get a car that a person with a higher income might be able to get. You have to have a source of income to get what you need and some of what you want.
