Cats are strictly carnivorous, undomesticated cats rely on high protein levels and fats as well as low carbohydrate levels to maintain balanced nutrition. For our domesticated cats, they need a similar diet to keep healthy. The correct amount of fat is especially important to nutrient transportation and healthy cells, in addition to maintaining a healthy metabolism. Cat metabolism can be affected by many things, such as, age illness, pre-existing disease...ect. Cats require plenty of nutrients to maintain a stable diet, although, too much of it can cause health issues. Especially vitamins and minerals. Be careful of supplements! If not veterinary prescribed, they can be very harmful. notably if the cat is being fed an already balanced diet. Even though cats love treats, they shouldn't be ingested often because of their high amounts of carbohydrates in ingredients, such as flour.

Commercial cat ailments are prepared in three different ways: dry kibble, semi moist kibble, and canned mush. These products differ in moisture content, palatability, digestibility, and protein concentrations. Regulations on supplements may vary in different countries, however, General regulations are administered by the Feline Nutrition Export Sub-committee of the AAFCO.

Dry cat food encompasses a moisture content of between 6% and 10%. Depending on the brand or manufacturer the formulation of ingredients may vary. -Meat and or meat byproducts

-Poultry and or poultry byproducts

-Grain and or grain byproducts

-Fish meal

-Fiber sources

-Milk products

-vitamin and mineral supplements

Dry cat food allows you to leave it out for a whole day without it going rotten. And can be better for a cat’s dental health than wet food. Although dry food is better in some ways it is also worse in some ways: dry food can be less tasteful and less digestable.

Canned cat food contains a better quality of ingredients than dry food because it has a higher water content and less calories. Less calories are better for cats and can help weight loss. The primary ingredients of gourmet wet cat food are: Kidney, Liver, and whole meat byproducts. Canned cat food has a moisture content of 75%, with a good dietary source of water, making it more reliable than expecting cats to drink enough water throughout the day. However many good things that come from wet cat food, there are also a few downsides, wet food can only be left out for a certain amount of time along with the fact that it is more rich, meaning that it can lead to overeating and over feeding.
