IKM-Manning SPARK & FIRE

Authentic Learning at IKM-Manning

IKM-Manning Middle School and High School programs originated in 2017, utilizing grants from the Iowa STEM BEST program. Since then each program has received additional Scale Up Grants through the Iowa STEM program.

SPARK, the Middle School program, is a 7th & 8th grade exploratory class offering students hands-on experience in their student-run business, Make It With Spark, while also learning valuable 21st Century & Entrepreneurship skills.

High School students participate in the
FIRE program, which is also a student-run business. Products are marketed to students, staff & the community. Recently the FIRE program partnered with the Manning Pharmacy to sell their products there.

Both programs have evolved over the years, adding additional equipment such as laser engravers, heat press machines, poster printers & vinyl cutters to diversify the products they are each able to offer. The IKM-Manning School Foundation Gala has also played an active role in supporting these programs.
