A zoo programme is shared with animals, keepers and other visitors. Setting clear expectations at the start protects the animals, keeps your group welcome, and reflects well on the company.
Keep noise down near exhibits, especially during competitive moments.
Never feed animals or throw objects into enclosures.
Follow all signage and keeper instructions without exception.
Do not use flash photography where signs ask you not to.
Stay on paths and out of restricted areas.
Families and tourists are enjoying their own day. Keep teams in manageable sizes as they move, and avoid blocking viewing areas for long periods. Clue designs should never require teams to interrupt strangers or push to the front of a crowd.
The easiest way to make good behaviour stick is to build it into scoring. Award points for quiet observation tasks, deduct for running or shouting near exhibits, and remind teams of the rules at each regroup. Facilitators should model the same behaviour.
Ask each team to choose a leader responsible for keeping the group together, watching the time and following the rules. Give team leaders a contact number for the facilitator and the meeting points in case anyone gets separated.
The park is spread out. Plan routes that suit colleagues with limited mobility, and check with the venue about accessible paths, rest areas and mobility aids. Make sure every team has a role that does not depend on walking quickly.
Collect all props, clue cards and waste at the end. Ask the venue about recycling and disposal so the group leaves the space exactly as it found it.
