What is the value of competing?

The value of competing in are multifold.  Math competitions allow students to use their talents and abilities and to demonstrate their commitment to the study of mathematics.  Math competitors experience are wider array of mathematical problems than are explored in a typical math classroom.  Math competitions allow for the mix of grades and expose younger students to math problems usually reserved for older students. Math team members find camaraderie with like minded students and hone their leadership and teamwork skills.  Finally, participation in math competitions promotes recognition for our school and its programs in the greater community.
