GISD seeks to support the whole child.

• That means we start with a solid Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) process for all students.

• Additionally, all students receive classroom guidance lessons/academic advising with school counselors.

• Some students need more and can access small group school counseling sessions.

• If small group counseling sessions are not enough to close the gap:

  • Students may work individually, for a brief time, on personal-social topics with their school counselor.

  • Students may be referred for School-Based Therapy.

  • Students and families may be referred to local entities for support.
