The Benold Middle School students were selected at random from each of the grade levels. The students are representatives of various special populations (Dyslexia, 504, Special Education, and Gifted/Talented), as well as the general population; additionally, students are members of different racial/ethnic groups (African American, Asian, Hispanic, Native American or Native Alaskan, White, and Two or More Races).
The Health & Wellness Advisory Design Team and the Benold Middle School PTA helped fund and create staff and student calming rooms (see in Section IV), planned and put on the Fall Fun Run and Health Fair, hosted a Blood Drive, generated student Mood Meters, assisted with providing information for PTA presentations, and provided feedback about the needs of students which lead to the #BEempowered: Respect, Trust, and Healthy Coping Strategies (see Section V). The Health & Wellness Advisory Design Team and the Benold Middle School PTA identifies campus needs, brainstorms ways to best support students, families, and staff, and implements those approaches with the assistance of the Benold Middle School Counseling team.
