Annie Purl and GISD strongly believe that students need to be prepared to be good digital citizens as technology ever evolves. Students receive instruction on online safety and proper technology use through lessons on media balance & well-being; privacy & security; digital footprint & identity; relationships & communication; cyberbullying, digital drama, & hate speech; and news & media literacy.
As mentioned on the GISD website, "In accordance with the Protecting Children in the 21st Century Act, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires schools to educate students about appropriate online behavior. This includes education on interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms and on cyberbullying awareness and response."
