Our urban gardens are living classrooms suitable for educating all ages (our youngest tour group was three years old). The gardens are used in several Georgetown courses, including:

The gardens are also used in various research projects. We’ve grown turtleheads to feed Baltimore checkerspot butterflies for one research project, hosted campus-wide Bioblitzes, and provided abundant insects for various projects. Below-ground biodiversity is important as well. The latest research highlights diversity density, the number of species per square meter, and ecosystem function in urban gardens.
