Every summer, the Summer and Special Programs unit hosts Summer Hoya High School Sessions. These non-credit academic programs offer talented and motivated high school students the chance to explore their areas of interest. All programs enable students to learn from Georgetown faculty and Washington decision-makers and experts, providing hands-on learning experiences through a mix of lectures, activities, group discussions, and unique educational off-site visits.
Our 1-Week, 2-Week, and 3-Week Academies take students on an accelerated, hands-on learning experience. Students examine a single subject area through collaborative exercises and simulations, group discussions, presentations from industry leaders, and field trips to some of DC’s top institutions.
Our 5-Week College Prep Program gives students the opportunity to take classes with current undergraduate students, learn from renowned Georgetown faculty, and earn college credit. Throughout the program, students also attend College Prep Seminars where they master test-taking strategies for the SAT and ACT, prepare for the college search and admissions process, and develop valuable skills that will help them succeed in college and beyond.
The Georgetown University Summer College Immersion Program (SCIP) is a three-week college prep program for rising high school seniors from the Cristo Rey Network and KIPP Foundation school systems and select schools, networks, and community-based organizations. Designed for high-achieving students with aspirations to apply to the most selective colleges and universities, our program provides a transformational learning experience and an introduction to college life.
Each summer, Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies hosts Summer Discovery for high school students and Junior Discovery for middle school students. For 2-Week sessions, Discovery offers various 2-hour non-credit enrichment courses which are held Monday-Friday for motivated high school students and middle school students to learn more about a subject area of their interest.
