A one-night-only performance that showcased both artistic brilliance and the challenges of independent student theater, this spring production followed two young singers, Ben and Ariel, who uncover a hidden mystery surrounding their record label, Maneko Neko Records (MNR), and chase their musical dreams as they face questions of truth, integrity, and the costs of success in the entertainment world. Led by Executive Producer Minato Shinoda (MSB '26) and Executive Director Lucy Zhang (CAS '26), Off the Record was produced after officially separating from the Asian American Student Association (AASA) to become an independent arts organization under the Performing Arts Advisory Council (PAAC). With no guaranteed budget, the team raised over $9,000 in donations to fund the production, reflecting their dedication to autonomy and artistic integrity.

No Pressure Creatives returned to Gaston Hall with an original two-act musical about two siblings fighting to save their family’s jazz bar while uncovering long-buried secrets. Blending themes of legacy, belonging, and family, the show reflected the personal stories of Georgetown’s Asian American community through soulful jazz numbers and heartfelt dialogue. Directed and co-written by Sherri Wu (SFS '26) with Lucy Zhang (CAS '26) and production by Lucas Lin (SFS '24), despite budget limits and the challenges of rehearsing in borrowed spaces, the student cast and crew forged a close-knit artistic family and meaningful production.
